Very nice camp hosts, incredible scenery, and perfect weather during our week in the area. A good spot if you are self contained with your rig and do not need the frills of some other locations. In response to the review regarding slow Wi-Fi... they have a satellite internet connection which causes slow connections. We received digital Verizon coverage on REV-A but distance to the tower slowed streaming speeds a little. Lots are natural gravel/ dirt with trimmed wild grass in between spots.
We were very disappointed with this park. After reading all the 9-10 star reviews we were really expecting something special. We can only guess that the park posts bogus reviews OR the people that do post reviews do not stay at very many locations. The RV Park is located immediately adjacent to the 40 freeway 8 miles West of Albuquerque (outside the city limits) just above the grade descending down to the valley floor. All day and night you could hear the Jake Brakes engaging on the rigs as they traveled East (and we were in the back of the park!). On top of the highway noise the RV park is also underneath the landing path for ABQ International and Kirtland AFB (F-16s are a bit noisy). We had to run our AC at night just to drown out the noise. The park itself is OK. We were unwilling to pay the extra $5 per day to be in a pull through which meant we were placed in the back in a narrow back-in (I had to trim a tree to pop-out our sides). The neighbors park wherever they please with some trucks sticking out into the street making navigation difficult. We were right next to a couple that worked as camp-hosts and their "authority" seemed to allow them to let their dog poop at will (I had to pick up 10 piles in our site during setup). The pool was clean but the host would close it down early at night. The spa was warm but was a bit frothy (i.e., not well cared for). The laundry had newer machines but no coin dispensers so the one time we went to do laundry we were out of luck. Anyone giving this park an overall rating of 7 or better is being very generous. This is an OK location for overnight stays or a few days but don't stay a week like we did.
This is a New Mexico state park located 15 miles north of Carlsbad (it is not that bad though because there is a cut-off that allows you to skip the traffic in town when traveling from North to South). We made reservations online so the price was impacted by the $10 (that's right $10!) to make the reservation; anyways it was still cheaper than the Carlsbad locations. A cool side-note about the park is that as you exit onto the highway if you cross straight you can drive 30 miles to Sitting Bull Falls. Overall we are falling in love with state parks. Instead of worrying about cramming as many sites into a location as possible they actually consider views and privacy. Coyotes howling at night and a family of road-runners (meep meep) hanging out in our camp. The spot itself was paved but the pavement is very narrow; just wide enough for your rig. On the depth end we have a 37' fifth wheel and we had to back ALL the way in to fit both the truck and trailer in spot (took some fancy maneuvering with the truck too). Full hook-ups available at the site but they ask that you only drain gray at the dump station. I think they purposefully setup the drain way in back so a standard drain line won't reach; we used the macerator and hose and were careful about the volume dumped at any one time. Silent at night with bright stars and open sky. It feels like you are the only people on earth staying here. Just leave the "Burning Man" at home and enjoy this great location.
Get Passport America before staying since they honor the rate. Gravel drives and spots with grass surrounding. Okay place to stay but your vehicles get very dirty very fast with the gravel and dust. Nothing particularly special about the place except for a good central location in the city.
Would be a 10 if the park was managed appropriately; read other reviews on the reservation process and make sure to reserve a spot ahead of time and don't rely upon park rangers to enforce the park rules. (Another camper left a beagle alone at camp while he went fishing for 4 hours; the dog barked the entire time. Park rangers did nothing. Luckily the guy was only there for two nights). Outside of the above this place was amazing. Remote camping feel with the comforts of a big city 10 minutes away. Do note that camping fees are increasing in January to cover a state budget shortage.
If this is the campsite to compare all others too then everyone else will lose. Imagine eating dinner after sunset from your table by the bay window overlooking the Fort Carson and Southern Colorado Springs area. A million dollar view for $22 plus parking! Cheyenne Mt Park is located adjacent to the infamous NORAD base inside the mountain and across the street from Fort Carson Army Base; bringing home the current war efforts when the bugles played over loud speakers to mourn the loss of our soldiers. Deer, wild turkeys, coyotes, rattle snakes, bears, and birds all were seen or left noticeable tracks. World class hiking and biking trails inside the park (trails leaving from the camping loops). Incredible views, amazing sunrises and sunsets, clouds, fog, warmth and freezing ice all greeted us during our 10 days in October. Frankly, the state of Colorado is going to put any neighboring RV parks out of business with this park. Items of note: the rangers are a bit annoying as they make regular rounds to check parking and camping permits (3-4 times per day we had to display this info); Verizon gets a signal but you do receive heavy interference from the military infrastructure surrounding you; you are 500ft above the city so the weather is colder and a bit more variable; the park is not yet on GPS maps so print directions from their website before rolling out; and you will not want to leave and may stake out permanent residence at the park. Don't hesitate staying here if you are heading towards Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs, or Fort Carson.
The park itself is nice and well kept. We stayed in one of their economy back-in spots which was not so nice. For those of you who care about your rig bring sprinkler covers because they like to water the grass and everything else within 10 vertical feet, woke up the first morning to a soaked rig; including the underside! The rigs are packed like sardines into this place so don't expect to get away from it all. The location is within walking distance to town and immediate access to mountain biking on the west end (there is even a Do-It Center immediately adjacent should you need to fix anything). Definitely not worth the price of admission though. You are going to drive hundreds of miles within Yellowstone to get anywhere so why pay a premium to stay near the entrance gate? Save the cash and stay a bit further out. Overall the cover of this book sold us but the story was so-so.
Wonderful RV Park near Crater's of the Moon. The town of Arco is a bit of a disappointment but this park makes up for the difference. The pull-thru spots are very large and included wide grass areas between spots. The weekly rate is excellent.
If you have ever wanted to park your rig in the woods and camp then this is the place. We were in a back-in spot that literally was back into the woods. Incredible scenery out all the windows. Neighbors were quiet and the views were awesome. It is at altitude so be ready for cold nights and comfortable days. Owners were very nice. They do close down early so plan on arriving before nightfall.
This is the place to stay if you are in the area for 2-3 nights. The price is right and it is quiet. There were maybe 2-3 other campers the whole time we were there. Mosquitoes are bad at night so close up early but the days are fine. Spots have 30 amp service and water there was a dump station on the way out.
For Vegas this place rocks. $16 per night paved pull thrus full 50 amp service, water, and dump. They had a nice little pool area. Most of your neighbors are there long term so scout your spot first (there were a few rigs we avoided). It is located up near Boulder Station on RV Park row, there are 3 or 4 within 1 mile of here. The surrounding neighborhood is not so good but you will be safely tucked into the park away from it all. We stayed 2 nights and were pleased with the place.
Can we live here permanently? This was heaven on earth. Located immediately next to the Klamath River and between the Redwood Forests we started thinking we were in a fairytale setting. The main building sports a Verizon Tower so we had Rev-A service the whole time. Short drives to everything. Neighbors were all cool. We will be back. Comments: A little noisy at night, not a lot of space between rigs, a bit pricey unless you drive a hard bargain (like we did).
